— How To Create Your Gift Basket —
1. CONSIDER A THEME
I recommend starting off by brainstorming a few themes your loved ones might enjoy. Some ideas include pop culture themes like Barbie, Mean Girls, Star Wars, Pusheen, Gudetama, Hello Kitty, or anything else that resonates with their interests. Also consider other aesthetics like balletcore, cottagecore, boho, soft girl, bows, coquette, minimalist, neutral etc. You could also stick to their favorite color, and design the entire gift basket based on different shades within that color palette. Or you could curate the gift basket based on its intended use, such as self-care essentials or workout accessories.
2. SELECT BASKET STYLE
Once you’ve decided on the theme for the gift basket, this part becomes a lot easier to nail down. Let the overall theme guide the design and aesthetic of the basket. It’s also a good idea to consider if (and how) your recipient can repurpose the basket after V-day – be it for storage, organization, decor, or as a sweet memento. I personally prefer giving and receiving stylish gifts that are also practical or functional where possible.
3. SELECT BASKET CONTENTS
This is where you can really get creative and tailor your basket contents to your special loved ones. Are you planning on making something by hand? Do they enjoy fun and playful gifts that are more light-hearted? Are they more into functional gifts that can enhance their every day lives or solve a problem they’ve been experiencing? Or are they more likely to appreciate a healthy combination of fun gifts mixed with more practical gifts? I also like to vary my gifts based on different textures and stimulation of the senses, such as pairing a beautiful scented candle with a soft cashmere blanket or fuzzy socks, along with some delicious snacks. 4. CONSIDER ADDING DECORATIVE ELEMENTS
Think about how you want your recipient to experience your gift basket and let that guide your decorative element choices. You can also play around with different textures and colors here to enhance the overall look and feel of your basket. No need to overthink here – I like to repurpose packing materials from my Amazon packages and create some sort of crinkle paper. But you could also use decorative crinkle paper, colorful tissue paper, ribbons, or heart-shaped foam beads.
5. ADD A HANDWRITTEN NOTE OR CARD
No gift basket is complete without a handwritten note or card to your loved one! As a sentimental softy, I consider thoughtfully crafted messages from the heart THE best part of the gift. And if you want to kick it up a notch, try your hand at DIY cards for your recipient. Once you’ve got all the components assembled, layer your items for visual appeal, and prepare to dazzle your special person with your beautiful gift basket.
